A hobby project in the form of AI content creation, which creates Reddit story narrations.
I started this project solo on 1/8/2024, and I've made continuous improvements to it daily.
This programming project combines the text-to-speech cloud service Amazon Polly's API with
the user story sharing website/app Reddit, into content for people to watch on platforms
such as Youtube, TikTok, and Instagram. The video output also features background videos
such as Subway Surfers and Minecraft gameplay to maintain viewer attention. The goal was
to gain mass followings to thus achieve monetisation on said platforms, and with each
minor tweak, I've gotten closer.
Story Scraper
Given the automated nature of the project, my job is quite basic,
involving having to look for stories that include an abundance of drama and ones that ask for feedback from
the viewer. I've also used ChatGPT for a few stories, with great results.
Content Publisher
Once I'm happy with the video output, I publish it on
social media platforms Youtube, TikTok and Instagram, to maximise reach.
Python
I picked Python as my programming language since I wanted to refresh
my memory on the language. It also integrates well with Amazon Polly, and is quite accessible.
Amazon Polly
I found Amazon Polly to be a worthy speech-to-text tool, since
it's free, the AI voices are realistic, and they also come with speech marks to use as subtitles. I played
around with how I wanted the subtitles to appear on screen, and even animated them.
Reddit/ChatGPT
I noticed that the most controversial and drama-filled
stories tend to retain more engagement. These increase watch time and comments, especially when the stories
involve someone in the wrong. Thus, I make sure to use Reddit/ChatGPT to find/generate stories that
fit this genre.
